Edmonton International Airport (YEG) has joined Transport Canada's global MOU for green shipping corridors, connecting routes between Canada's West Coast and ports in the UAE, Korea, and Japan. As the only Canadian airport in the MOU, YEG positions itself as an international sustainability leader.
With strategic inland port access, YEG is poised to adopt green shipping technologies. The International Cargo Hub expansion, supported by the Government of Canada and Alberta, features a 112 MW solar farm and efficient highway access.
YEG is actively pursuing green initiatives, including electrifying e-commerce deliveries and introducing Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. The MOU signing at COP28 in Dubai includes YEG, the Port of Vancouver, and the Port of Prince Rupert. YEG aims for net-zero emissions by 2040, showcasing its commitment to sustainability and emerging technologies.
