About the Speakers

Ashif Mawji, Managing Director, ScaleGood Fund
Ashif Mawji is a seasoned entrepreneur and philanthropist with a passion for fostering innovation and social impact. As the Managing Director of the ScaleGood Fund LP, he invests in and mentors promising startups (he has over 150 investments to date). His extensive experience includes building and exiting successful tech companies, serving on numerous boards, and receiving accolades such as EY Entrepreneur of the Year and Canada's Top 40 under 40. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ashif is deeply committed to community building and philanthropy, actively supporting various causes and organizations.

Sheetal Mehta Walsh, CEO, U of A Innovation Fund
Sheetal Mehta Walsh is a seasoned venture capitalist and technology expert with a strong focus on innovation and social impact. As CEO of the University of Alberta Innovation Fund, she leverages her experience in VC strategy and deal-making to support promising startups. Sheetal has a proven track record of success, having worked at Microsoft and the UK Government, and she is actively involved in various boards and initiatives in the Edmonton region. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sheetal is passionate about giving back and has founded Shanti Life, a charity dedicated to empowering vulnerable women in India through financial inclusion and sustainable development.
