About the Spotlight Storyteller

Ivan Touko arrived in Edmonton from Cameroon in 2012 to study Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta. Seeking a sense of belonging, he quickly integrated into the Albertan community, volunteering and co-founding numerous student groups. This dedication earned him Alberta's Top 30 Under 30 award and fueled his creation of social enterprises like La Connexional and BOM YEG. His passion for community extends to dance, where he shares his love of movement through Afro Fusion workshops.

Currently, Ivan is focused on expanding his entrepreneurial ventures in Edmonton, with a keen interest in social innovation, tech, and e-commerce. Having organized over 80 events in the region, he remains committed to building his network and exploring new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
