We're excited to invite you to our upcoming event at Norquest College on August 22nd, 2024! Following the success of our last social at Campio Brewing, we're looking forward to gathering once again for an evening of learning and networking. This time, we’ll delve into the fascinating world of reinforcement learning with Revan MacQueen, a Machine Learning Resident at AMII. Join us to explore how cutting-edge machine-learning techniques can optimize industrial control systems.
Event Date: August 22nd, 2024
Event Location: NorQuest College, Room SCFL 2-027
Event Schedule:
Doors Open: 5:30 PM
Presentation: 6:00 - 6:30 PM
Networking: 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Event Speaker: Revan MacQueen
Speaker Bio:
Revan MacQueen is a Machine Learning Resident on the Advanced Tech Team at AMII. His current focus is on the use of reinforcement learning to supply safe drinking water to rural communities.
Revan earned his Master’s degree in Computing Science from the University of Alberta, supervised by Professor James Wright; his research focused on the theory behind game-playing algorithms. Outside of work, Revan enjoys discovering new eateries, exploring the outdoors, and playing board games with friends.
Presentation Title: RLCore: Realtime Adaptive Control with Reinforcement Learning
Presentation Abstract:
RLCore leverages world-class machine learning expertise to optimize industrial control systems. We are experts in reinforcement learning—a technique that can automatically adapt process controls, replacing individual static set points with system-wide, real-time adjustments learned from historical data and live observations. Unlike other AI approaches that seek to mimic humans, our RL agents carefully and continually improve systems to levels beyond what a human expert could achieve alone. Our techniques can deliver improved efficiency, lower maintenance, increased automation, and generally lower costs with better performance across the board.
